Problem downloading work packets from Folding@Home

NE1 else having a prob with this ? I've had 2 machines sitting here since about noon waiting to download new work. WTF is up with that.

I've tried the reg screensaver version and the console mode as well, can't get packets.

I show an error message : getwork failed , but I'm connecting to the assigned server at 171.64.122.115.....NE1 able to get work packets from this server ? can I change the server and try a diff one ?

give me a hint, I've wasted a 1/2 day already.

thanks, osage

Well... welcome to the world of distributed computing - Stanford style. Not that much difference in physical distance OR connection ability between Berkeley and Stanford, is there? 😉

Sorry Osage but them's the breaks with F@H.... Which is why I end up running at least 2 projects on a machine... 🙁 When one can't connect, the machine will run the other full time and vice versa.

I hope you don't give up and just stay with it.. Sometimes you can stop and restart the client to get it to connect... But part of the issue that they're working on is the fact that when you download a specific protein for a WU from a specific server, your machine needs to reconnect to that same server to upload the WU.

Patience is often a virtue with F@H. 🙂

well, then I guess I'll just use this downtime to install a larger HDD, and a XP cpu.. maybe I can make up for some lost time when I get back on.

thanks Poof

install a larger HDD, and a XP cpu.

Can I have your XP? 😛

(/me is waiting for an XP 1900 to be delivered... *tap tap tap tap* 😉)

NO you can't have it....

I'm connected again and working on all 3 comps now. I wonder if I'll see any real diff in the out put of the XP. Not a lot faster than the 1.33 T-bid it is replaceing, but should see some diff, ya think ? ?

Wow. You're quick with the fingers!!!!!!! 😛 😛 😛

I don't know if you'll see that much difference. I thnk F@H is more a MHz race than anything else. 🙂

Maybe I'll have to break out the super glue and rear window defogger repair kit in a few days...........

I haven't had any trouble connecting yet (that I have noticed), but it sure seems to take 'em a long time to update the stats, huh?
Still, we've gone from 149 to 141 in a cupla days.

osage, same thing happened to me this afternoon, finally got a wu and started crunching.🙂

My temps are running 3-4degrees higher running this program, anyone else notice a temp climb?
