I have hooked my PC up to my Viewsonic 40" and I can get it to display at its native resolution.

There is an option for 1360 X 768 but that doesn't look good either. I have tried powerstrip and that doesn't seem to work as well. I have an X800 series video card.

Help and thanks

I've got a similar problem with my Polaroid LCD/TV and x850xt.

I'd be interested to hear about this as well.

Since I've never tried to connect via DVI, I've always wondered if that was the issue.

I was just about to post I am going from DVI to a dvi/vga adapter then to the TV. I am going to get a DVI/HDMI adapter and I am betting that will make the differnce. I still don't see why I can't get the native resolution of 1366X768 to be an option though.

The behavior of the port(s) depends on the TV. If the TV assumes -- and some do -- that it's getting input from a DVD player or DVR, it will happily crop and scale the input as needed. Check your TV manual for the recommended way to connect a PC to the TV.

Most HDMI only accept normal TV resolutions of 720x480, 1280x720, an 1920x1080; so it's doubtful that you will even be able to do 1360x768 with that. As for 1366x768, older Radeons require the horizontal resolution to be divisible by 8, so 1360 or 1368 is as close as you are going to get.

I have a x800xl that I first tried connecting to my 1080p tv via vga. The highest resolution I could go via vga was 640x480 which was like a quarter of the screen size of my tv. I then went and got a dvi to hdmi cable and am now able to run 1920x1080i or 1280x720p. So it really depends on the capabilities of the vga port on your tv, which seems pretty limited.

I don't know if the videocard can do 1366x768 though.

It doesn't seemingly support that res...silly me. If it did 1280 x 720 well that is all good wtih me. I have a DVI/HDMI cable coming...hopefully that will look good.

It should support 720P so...that should be all good. I will let you guys know how it comes out.

THanks

I'm having a similar problem with my new Vizio 37" LCD TV... can anyone recommend a video card that can support the 1366 widescreen resolution?

Thanks,
Mer.
