PROBLEM:

My current rig: Asus a7n8x deluxe, xp 1700, pny ti4200, 768mb pc3200

the video card is dead... works but cant handle any type of 3d or acceleration... overheating?

FUNDS: $400

CHOICES:

keep the same system, buy a new vid card.. 6800gt agp?

OR

build new system: nforce4 board, 6600gt pcie, athlon 64..

Now, my question is, what do you guys suggest? Should I keep the same system and get a new vid card, or upgrade my system and get pci express etc. and future upgradeability?!

Video cards are worth half their price in a few months anyway and today's champ is the next half year's good value card. I'd go with building a new upgradable system. Of course that would mean the pains of getting rid of your older stuff.
