Hi
What I did is basically converted my HDD from FAT32 to NTFS, because i thought that I would not need it anymore,guess I was wrong.

How can i convert it to FAT32 again?

I tried Partition Magic 5 PRO , it sayed ,that It will NOT install under WIN 2000.

Any suggestions?

TIA

You can use the dos disks that partition magic 5 will make during the install (Yes the install will go as far as making the disks b4 refusing to continue under win2k) that's what I did and it works.

what about booting from cdrom using the win2k cd, and reformatting when it asks if you want to reformat. does that work?

It depends which NTFS for a start you're using.

NTFS v5 (W2K) is only supported by Partition Magic 6 and up - AFAIK Partition Magic 5 won't take kindly to it.

Maybe that'll be a start? :D.

Hope this helps.

Without using 3rd Party software, the only way to get back to FAT32 is to reformat, using the Win2K CD. You can convert FAT32->NTFS but not the other way around. My only suggestion is to reformat.

Shathal: Nope...PM5 supports NTFS5...I am using it at work and also used it on my own computer. Believe me: it works

I stand corrected then - my info is updated.

But yes, AFAIK there's no way without 3rd party SW to move from NTFS -> FAT32. Only the other way round.

Hmm - easiest way:

* Copy Data from NTFS disk onto some backup-disk/device.
* Delete NTFS partition & re-create it as a FAT-32 partion.
* Format new FAT-32 partition.
* Copy data back.

Should do the job for you, I would hope. That's if you've got the backup space :).
