problem connecting to game servers

basically as the title says.

when i try to connect to a server in counterstrike and quake 3 it just keeps re-trying and never connects.

yes everything else on the net works fine, when i ping the servers they all refresh properly it's just they wont connect.

are there any things i can check that might be stopping it from connecting?

i just upgraded my graphics card to a gainward gefocre 4 ti 4200 and i have a shuttle ss51g XPC



whoops, sorry i posted in wrong forum, could a mod please move it, or is it ok here? i think it may be video card related as the problem only started when i changed my graphics card
 
doesn't make sense that the cause would be a different vid card.
Did you close some ports on your firewall?

well i dont have any firewalls up so it couldn't be that.

i also did format the drive when the problem arised, and i am still getting the problem
