ok.....so i built about 5 rigs in my time and they all never gave me any types of problem...now i build this computer for myself and since i built it about 5 months ago ive had nothin but problems......2 times it would go past the mother board screan and then freeze and say over clocking failed....mind you i never overclocked any peice of my system.......another time i would start it it would get to almost the point of the windows logo and just shut off.....but in between times i have gotten to get the pc to work....so every so often im having these problems and i bring it to the local pc store and they fix it....one time he said it was a bios error...another time he said it was pointing to the wrong hardrive........but now i am having another problem and im plain sick of it.....i turn the computer on it sounds like its loading perfect it goes thru the motions...but nothin shows on the screen.....the monitor is on and the led is green so there is some type of communication between pc and monitor but the screen is just black.....but a lit up black...not like an powered off black....

What type of powersupply do you have?

and if it is adequate I would run memtest next.

personally I would check out the psu on another computer to see how well it functions there, and try out another PSU on your PC. Then you can determine if the PSU is bad or f your MOBO is bad.

i know this may sound silly, but once i was getting similar problems and i found that as i was attaching the motherboard to my atx case, i had an extra screw that was touching the current lines on the motherboard (that melted aluminum thing) which at times caused random shutdowns, sometimes it would just not bother starting as if it were completely dead. As for the monitor being black screened, I'm not sure my best guess would be to check the PC-2-Monitor connection and or update Graphic card drivers. Sounds like a really weird issue... GL

The first thing you need to do is download MemTest86 and run it. You're most likely not giving your RAM enough voltage. If you can run MemTest overnight with no errors, reboot, and raise your northbridge voltage by .1v. Your northbridge is what controls your memory, and running 4 sticks is harder on it than running two. If you still have problems after that, look for another power supply to test with your system. Even 1,000 watt power supplies can go bad, or just not be supplying the proper voltages.

I believe this mother board has issues that make it not worth owning. It might be a good price for what it can be configured to do but I have been reading through boards about the mother board and every post starts with. This is a great mother board except or but then they go on to talk about issues they had and how they had to update bios or tweak bios settings. The raw facts would indicate that every one has issues but most are savy enough to work through them. I purchased this board and had issues with it imediatly from the store. When I read the posts and every post talks about personal experiences with Bios issues then I returned it imediatly.

can you take a picture of your board.

And try to get as close as possible to the mosfet area. The area where theres a sink near the cpu.

I think one of the contact points is bad, and you may have worn it out. Dont worry tho, ASUS will RMA if thats the case.

And your PSU is fine. JonnyGuru gave that PSU excellent marks.

Also if possible i need your entire bios settings. I'll help you debug, were on almost the same exact board. I have a DLX.

Oh make sure you set FSB Termination Votage to at least 1.3V
