Problem caused by overheating?

The other day my computer just up and decided it didn't want to turn on properly. It started out innocently enough just happening once. When i hit the power buttton the fans would just spin up and nothing would load and it would never beep. I held the power button and restarted it and it worked for a while with no problems.

Then a few days later it did it again, only this time i had to try 2 or 3 times before it started up properly. Then when i got into windows it froze up and i restarted it and it worked fine for a while.

Yesterday, when i tried to turn it on i couldn't get it to go no matter how many times i tried. So i took it all apart, cleaned it all out and looked to see if anything looked unussual or anything and when i put it back together it still wouldn't start so i cleared the cmos memory just to try that and it started right away but it restarted itself shortly after getting to the welcome screen in windows. It kinda looped 2 or 3 times restarting itself everytime it got into windows.

I got fustrated with it and just gave up for the day and started using my laptop.

Well this mourning i tried to start it up again and its doing the same thing where it just spins up the fans and doesn't boot. So i really have no idea whats going on with the thing.

My only supison is that it overheated and something got messed up, because i know it got hot a couple times sitting in my little cubbie and restarted itself. (i think it got up to like 61C according to motherboard monitor which i didn't think was hot enought to cause any dmg).

Any ideas would be great. If you want any more details just ask. Thanks in advance.
