i got my new pc all set up but when i try to turn it on i get this error:
"Reboot and select proper boot device or insert boot media in selected boot device and press a key"

i turned it on once and it worked perfectly fine, but when i restarted it i started toget that message and now it wont boot up. im running windows xp, asus a8v deluxe mobo, 200gig seagate barracuda sata harddrive, bfg 6800gt, 1gig corsair xms ram, athlon64 3200+.

any help would be greatly appreciated! thanks.

sounds like its trying to boot onto a drive that has no operating system remove and cd's and or floppies and try again.

check boot order in bios

make sure bios sees your hd

hmm, now that you mention it, the doom3 cd might have been in the cd drive.

how do i check the boot order in bios? what should the order be? how do i know if bios sees my hd?

thanks a lot.

when the comp boots there should be a a brief screen that says hit <key> to enter setup. hit that key and you should go to CMOS/BIOS setup. in there, depending on your board you should be abel to see everything in the pc. look for boot order or something to that effect, the optimal one would be floppy, cd, hdd, or at least thats what most use

actually most of the newer machines boot cd first, floppy 2nd and C: third

there will also be a menu identifying all disks and drive see if the proper drive is listed on the c drive..ps did you check to see if your data cable came loose?
