Problem booting Linux after install

I recently did a reinstall of my windows system. I also decide to reinstall my Suse Linux install on the same system. After the reinstall I get this message at boot:

"Searching for Boot Record from BBS-0:[Ultra D0Maxtor 5T030H3].... OK
Grub"and then a flshing cursor, and the booting halts. I went ahead and then tried to install Ubuntu Linux whci seemed to go okay, but after a reboot, I get the exact same error.

Not sure if it means anything, but for both installs, I installed the Bootloader on the hard drive with the linux install on it. A seperate drive then my XP install. I felt safer doing this, so if I had a problem I would wreck my XP install as well. SO any ideas what my problem could be?

Is the drive listed there correct? I've always used LILO, and always installed it onto the MBR (of the first drive 😉).
