probelm with 2500+ unlocked

i installed a new processor and it started up and then all of a sudden shutdown. now i hit the power button and the computer acts like it is trying to boot but i get nothing. no video on the screen or anything. just the lights from my led fans and then 5 seconds later the power shuts off. anyone help me out please??

i had an athlon 2500 locked and i replaced it with an athlon 2500 unlocked.

That happened to me when i had an extra standoff in, and it was grounding out the mobo.

standoff is what?? the pegs that hold your mobo away from the metal backing??

can't be the PSU i just bought one cause i thought that was it, and i bought a thermal take.

Whats a "peocessor"?, lol

Yeah, check your stand-offs and make sure your CPU fan is plugged into the proper CPU fan header.

Yeah, I forgot about that. Most mobos will shut off power to the processor if it doesn't sense a fan plugged into the cpu fan port.

ihave the abit nf7-s, i have 6 standoffs total. 4 on the corners and 2 in the middle. is that to many??

the comp will run fine with no processor in the slot. meaning all the lights and fans and everything will stay running until i turn the power off and put the cpu in.

Computers don't run without cpu's! Your power supply is coming on, because you have the atx connector plugged into a motherboard, that's all. If you think it's the processor, try a different one. You say you bought a new psu, how big of a Thermaltake did you get?
