I just purchased a TI-83 Plus graphing calculator and a usb link cable. i installed the ti-connect program. it notified me that there was an update to the operating system available. i started the update. it was 14% done and the power to my usb hub cut out because i bumped the power cord. so the update stopped and it didnt connect back to my calculator. the calculator screen then read:

ERROR!
Press any key to
turn unit off.
Then turn unit
back on.

After doing so, this screen came up:

Waiting...
Please install
calculator
software now.

when i click to restore my old files (i saved them) or when i click update, the computer tells me that it cannot connect to my calculator and the calculator just gives me the error screen again. what should i do?

btw this was in tech support but it doesnt realy have to do with comps and no one was replying so i moved it here.

EDIT: problem solved

send in the calculator to TI.
that's all you can do.

How Do I Correct the Error Waiting...Please Install Calculator Software Now on the TI-83 Plus?

The error Waiting...Please Install Calculator Software indicates that the internal software on the TI-83 Plus has been corrupted. In order to resolve this, the operating system will need to be reinstalled from a computer.

Procedure for Installation:

For Windows® Users

Download the latest version of the TI-83 Plus Operating System.
Connect the appropriate TI-GRAPH LINK? cable between the PC and TI-83 Plus.
Launch the TI Connect? software and click on DeviceExplorer.
Drag the OS file to the TI Connect software and drop it.

Please note:After clicking on DeviceExplorer the error message "Cannot establish a valid connection" will appear. Ignore this message.

Usually when you backup and restore your files from TI Connect, it just restores your programs and variables, not the actual operating system. Try sending it the update again, or find a copy of your old OS on the internet somewhere and try sending that to the calculator. If that doesn't work, you could try finding a friend with a TI-83 Plus and having them send you their OS over a link cable. If that doesn't work, you probably do have to send it in to TI.

You could also try going to this website for more info:
