I did something really stupid in September and am due to be sentenced to probation through a private probation service on the 14th of this month.

If I want to move to California from Missouri in 3 months, how will this affect me?

I'll probably have a better answer for you on the 15th. Check back then.

it depends on the nature of your probation, if you did something REWALLY REALLY bad they they most likely wont let you leave the state without permission or some junk,

and you have to tell us what you did

you will have to let them know before you are sentenced that you are moving out of state. Part of your probabtion will be that you cannot leave the state without contacting the court first.

I took two friends to a park at 2 am.................they ended up breaking into a storage trailer and getting caught.........I went back for them after driving off when they got caught.......................and............oops.

I was 18 by one day, they were both under 18.

Plea bargain gets suspended imposition of sentence.........but I will probably be on probation through midwest ADP, some private company that does probations for my state (Missouri).

I didn't do any of the breaking in, but I took them.

Reason I don't take it to trial and make them PROVE I did it is the same reason they don't wanna take it to trial, cost.

Easy way out is plea bargain.

Yes, I hired lawyer.

Aiding B&E or accessory to B&E is my guess... he knew what they were going to do but he won't admit that.

Some states won't transfer probation. I have probation in Georgia but I live in South Carolina. I asked about having it trasfered and my PO said SC won't allow a probation transfer. North Carolina, on the other hand, will. (Was looking at moving there at one time).

What is a private probation service?

I didn't know what they were doing.

Nothing was stolen, I was charged with Property Damage, a class 3 misdemeanor.

If they won't transfer probation, do I just fly back to missouri every month for probation meetings?

Before I was put on unsupervised probation I had to go Ga. every month before the 15th. Not too big of a deal because it was only 25-30 miles away. The plus side was that in almost 5 years of probation I've never had them visit my house once. Pretty sure that has to do with being in another state. best bet is to simply ask your PO or call the Probation Office there. They can tell you in a heartbeat if you can get it transfered.( My PO knew both NC and SC off the top of his head). Good Luck...

You hired a lawyer and then pleaded? WTF for? Your fee should have included trial representation, or you should have been expecting to pay it either way. Most of the time when dealing with municipal or low level county/state courts your fee will include trial time if it isn't a major charge. I can't believe you had a lawyer and then pleaded. Was it a public defender then?

It was $750 for her to arrange a plea bargain, several thousand for a full trial.

Plea agreement will get me 6 months of probation, 25 hours community service, and restitution.

You still have the conviction though. I can't believe several thousand for a full trial. That really sucks. Sorry to hear that especially if you didn't know what was going on. No way I'd ever plea to a charge I didn't commit. I'd fight it if it took every dime I had and I had to sell my soul as well.

No convinction on my record.

Just that I was charged, never convicted.

Suspended imposition of sentence means if I complete probation this never "happened"............except to like the FBI and stuff, I'm sure they can find out.
