Like the title says, need a new video card. My current 9600pro isn't what it once was.. 🙁 I don't want to spend to much for this card because I'll be building a new PC within the next year after Vista is released..

Thanks,
David

Yes I am to lazy to do the research myself. 🙂

well assuming your machines is agp since you are using a 9600 pro then that x850xtp agp is probably the best.

the 7600gt agp is a bit over $150, but it would be an even better choice.

i have the same question on another thread. it looks like its the 7600gt vs. x850xt. I did own a 7600gt before and the only bummer about the card was the fan noise although I do have a zalman vf700 cooler laying around here somewhere.

my bad i removed the x1800gto as the price is to high.

At tom's vga charts, X850xt 520/1080 beats 7600GT. The pe is clocked even higher and costs less than the 7600GT card. If you are going to build a new system with Vista within the next 6 months, then PS3.0 or HDR shouldn't be a serious concern. As long as you don't mind sacrificing some image quality for performance, X850xt pe card is a good choice.

sorry, it doesn't have to be agp.. Can be either.. Might actually prefer Nvidia over ATI due to Linux problems..

PCIe 7600GT is the best bet then ... no sense paying the AGP premium if you don't have to.
