Being in the right hand lane, may work in some cases. But then you have to consider things like trees and lamp posts that may be in the way. If you are in the center (of a 3 lane road) then if you spin, you have a fair chance of just doing a 180 or so without hitting anything. Of course, others can still hit you if they are too close.

I'd rather hit a tree instead of a semi.

This is why those barriers need to be on there on major highways. When the speed limit is high enough to allow cars to go too fast for conditions then shit like this can happen. I know from reading previous posts that this was in Russia, but it could have happened anywhere.

Wow, that sucks, the SUV basically exploded into little pieces.

Check out some of the accidents on nothingtoxic. They have some on autobahns that are really messed up. I watched one video where there were about 10 cars involved and there was not much left to the vehicles, and body parts scattered all around. Even the bodies that were still somewhat intact were flopping around seizing. Probably the most disturbing thing I've seen on the internet aside from the Dnepropetrovsk Maniacs.

Never ever hit the brakes when the car starts fish tailing on ice or snow. You will lose control everytime. Darn shame.

According to that video site, the SUV driver (only one in it) did not survive. He died instantly and for him, he probably never had a chance to know what hit him.

I don't know. The one time I lost control of my car I was still paying attention to the direction I was moving I doubt he felt much after the impact at least.

There was a show I caught last summer that showed miracle survival stories and one of them was a guy in a Camaro that launched himself into highway overpass support pillars in the median. It was all caught on a dash cam by a cop and you see the car literally disintegrate. the amazing thing is the guy actually survived and the show had experts analyze how the car launched itself into the air the way it did and how the guy survived.

Yup, just let off the gas and you'll gain control.

If he would have been a few feet behind that truck he probably would still be alive.

It's better with Michael Knight hitting turbo boost edited in but I can't seem to find that gif.

The driver of the truck which got hit from the rear was pretty lucky he managed to bring it under control himself. If there had been two vehicles crossing the road it could have been even messier.

Watching the video make me think about how absolutely temporary and fragile our lives are. One minute you are driving down a road, the next you are ...

Imagine being a loved one. The death of someone you loved is all over the Net ...

As long as you have better tread on the front tires than on the rear tires. If you're a doofus and got just two new tires and mounted them on the front because, "but, it's front wheel drive," then it'll still be more difficult to regain control.

Looked like the suv exploded, really crazy. So why the hell didn't they have a barrier in the middle, would have almost entirely prevented it.

Because that costs money and people don't want to pay for the borrowing we are doing now much less pay for more. Would you want to have your taxes raised?

Most will answer, "sure, for this" but at the same time, many would not. Just the way it is.
