for an ending/showdown for a western, my fave would have to be Open Range, complete badassery sans any corniness/cliches
part1
part2
part3

as far as showdowns/finales of movies, there's just too many to post all so I'll stick with westerns here :p

That was the scene I had in mind when I read the thread title.

Edit:
1. That video cut the end of the scene off!
2. I don't think a scene where nothing happens for 4 straight minutes would fly in a movie today.

Better version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sXldafIl5DQ (doesn't cut off so early)

OMG... Nobody mentioned Unforgiven? Eastwood wipes out a whole saloon full of guys.

The movie is a classic... and the final scene was based on the protaganist's view that the guy who wins the gun fight is the one who can keep his head.

"You just shot an unarmed man!"
"Well he should have armed himself."

10 minutes long.

"I've always been lucky when it comes to killin' folks"

So many great lines in that flick.

yes I know, but I didn't want to post the 8 min version.

I wanted to get right to the point.

They very end of the movie is plain awesome! Tuco's swearing is hilarious.

Bloodsport FTW as far as showdowns go.

That is, hands down, my favorite Western of all time.
