Probably a simple raid 1 question

sounds simple enough - I want to have 1 drive for the OS and programs and then 1 TB drives in a raid 1 setup for data.

I don't care about having to redo the OS - just don't want to lose my data.

The question is how to do this?

Do I need to install raid controllers prior to the OS - or simply just install 1 drive and setup the OS as usual - and then add 2 drives for the raid setup? ie can it all be setup after the fact - provided the drive the OS is on isn't being changed?

after the fact is no problem at all, it is how i prefer to do it.

Kinda confused me with "after the fact", but what i did with mine, is used the built in RAID controller in the BIOS and turned RAID on for the 2 drives i wanted to RAID, then when booting up, u need to provide drivers (well thats what i needed for the OS) so not sure bout data strictly, but either way it worked well otherwise through windows is the other option, right click my computer, manage, disk management, then right click the disk1 or disk0 etc( the 2 u wana RAID) and convert them both to Dynamic Disks, then right click the unallocated space in one and create new mirrored volume easy as pie
