Probably a mom joke for most of you, but mine passed away a few hours ago.

So sorry for your loss!

I'm worrying myself to death about my father right now as he continues his struggle against cancer. His surgery went well and they said he should be cancer free, but I kind of get the feeling he has lost to will to live from all the pain and narcotics...

It's horrible losing someone you love. It's horrible watching the man who used to threaten to pick you up to use you as a club to beat your brother when we were fighting. The strongest man I have ever known now refuses to get up and walk, and has lost around 70lbs.

I hope you can find peace in time alky.

Hey man, so sorry for your loss. I think I speak for us all that while we might give you some grief here and there, you're a key member of the AT family, and we all feel for you in times like these. I know that she'll be remembered by many, yourself first and foremost.

Sorry for your loss man. Just the other week was the first time my dad called me saying he was having some medical issues. He's now got a surgery scheduled. I'm sure he'll be ok, but it makes you realize just how fast life can change once your parents get up there in age.

Chris, I'm sorry for your loss. I'm sure though, that she was happy, knowing a grandchild was on the way.

This.

My mother was alive just long enough to see my youngest son born - she died of colon cancer about 6 months after. I like to think her angel is watching over him. I'm glad your mother was able to see the happiness your new family has brought you the last couple of years and I'm sure that was a source of great pride and joy for her.

I constantly dream about my parents, who have both passed away. Mom died years ago, Dad in 2011. Strange dreams. Sometimes both of them are alive in the dreams, sometimes only Dad, sometimes just Mom. No matter what the dream, when I wake up it takes me a remarkably long time before I come to the realization that they're both gone.

Sucks...

My Dad passed away a few years ago... 2010 I think.

My Mom is still alive (insert Alky joke here). Seriously though, I'll be really sad when she goes. She battled breast cancer last year, had a double mastectomy and all the radiation etc that goes with it, and it is looking like she beat it thankfully.

My heart goes out to you Alkemyst.

My mother beat lung cancer and breast cancer previously. She was diagnosed with Leiomyosarcoma (LMS) which usually attacks the uterus, a few months ago. My mom didn't have her's anymore, oddly the cancer grew out of the vein/artery that would have fed her's. We were lucky that one of the country's few LMS specialists were located in our area. Previously my mother would have had to travel to Texas.

It's fast growing and doesn't respond to normal cancer treatments. The first phase of chemo which almost killed her didn't even touch the cancer. The second phase ended up being what really killed her. Her entire gastrointestinal tract was ravaged and all sorts of infections and bacteria florished (c.diff, colitis, MRSA, pneunomia, and more).

Even if she survived she'd be looking at possibly 2 years to recover fully from how bad it was.

Most of the family was with her 24/7, she decided to go when my dad took an early lunch which we think she wanted. She went very quickly.
