Probably a dumb question but I will ask anyway

Hi, guys I have a Dlink 614+ Wireless router and I have used a standard cable (non-crossed over) from port 1 on the router to run to a hub. The hub has a port on it that is switchable from (crossed over or standard) configuration. If I hook the standard cable into this port on the hub I can access the internet and local lan with the switch moved in either position. I thought that it should only work one way. Is the router port automatically adjusting or what? Thanks and please lmk what you think

Some Cable/DSL Routers have auto adjusting ports that would take either types of CAT5.

If it has auto sensing for the cable it normally is called NWAY and you should see that on the DLink box or documentation.

The DLink 614+ does have auto MDI/X detection. So, you can use either a cross-over or straight through cable and it will work fine.
