prob. with ide controller

i helped a friend install a computer, and it was working fine yesterday. however, today when he boots up, his 2 cdroms which are on the secondary ide controller dont seem to be working. he was reading the manual and he says that the end of the cable has to go to the master drive. could that be the problem? strange that it was working fine yesterday and after he boots it up today it dosent work. maybe the cable on the mobo for the secondary controller came loose. let me know if anyone has any ideas, thanks.

The cables can go bad themselve, but you should check the connection. The master drive should be the one on the middle of the cable, that is how cable select would assign it.
