Well, it's my fault but I can't fix it either.. :)
Here's the LONG story.

--
At this point, everything was working correctly.. i could see all my ide devices.
I'm running win2k. In device Manager, under IDE ATA/ATAPI Controllers, there were 3 items:
Unknown Device
VIA Bus Master IDE Controller
Unknown Device

so, being an engineer and all ;), I decided to remove both of the 'unknown device' entries. rebooted and guess what?
everything that was connected to my secondary ide channel dissapear.

I tried reinstalling the ide driver, doing "add new hardware" (didn't detect any new hd), etc.. nothing.

Then i decided to manually add an ide controller. Both primary & secondary came up and the VIA Bus Master IDE Controller has a big red X because it's conflicting with the new primary ide. but it seems to work ok (i could see the devices on the secondary channel).

THEN I decided to remove the driver for my Maxtor ATA100 controller card (which is not in the system anymore).

Rebooted and I got a blue screen saying that there's something wrong with my boot sector or something like that.. it's a win2k error.

i temporarily fixed this problem by reinstalling my ata100 controller and running my hd from there.

The weird thing is, under "fixed disk" it listed my Maxtor IDE drive as a SCSI device.

yes yes yes, i know, "if it ain't broke, don't touch it"

so, anyone can help me?
