Hi,
I just built my first PC and I can't get it to work :-( When I turn on the power strip the pc starts up automatically without using the power switch?? The power switch or reset switch does nothing. All the fans work and the 4 led indicators on the MSI Pro2-A are all lit up red and they stay that way. The dvd drive opens and closes without problem and the monitor shows nothing but squares. I touched the heat sink and it doesn't feel warm. Everything looks right. What could be happening?? Thanks for all help ahead of time I really appreciate it!!

Have you connected the Power switch, and reset switch on the case to the motherboard? Is it the right way round??

My MSI K7T Pro2A did the same thing when I first installed it. Powered up and everything started. I removed the board thinking I had shorted the board in mounting, reinstalled the board, reinstalled the switch, speaker, reset, etc. and powered it up and it came on again. I powered it down, reset the bios (removed the bios jumper for a short while) and when I powered it back on it did not start up until I pressed the power button. It then posted and I was able to load Windoze. I hope this helps.

Thanks DLF,
I'm new at this so I'm not sure where the BIOS jumper is? Can you point me in the right direction? Also, what is the proper direction of the power switch, reset, speaker etc.. wires when hooking them up to the motherboard or does it matter? Thanks!

The jumper is marked JBAT1 and location/instructions are shown on page 2-4 of your K7T Pro2-A manual. Please read the important note at the bottom of the page. Your computer must be powered down completely before reseting the bios, this includes unplugged from the wall socket.

Good luck.
