Dell workstation options:

128MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro FX550 (D)*, Dual VGA or DVI + VGA
128MB PCIe x16 ATI FireGL V3400, Dual VGA or DVI + VGA Capable
128MB PCIe x16 nVidia Quadro NVS 285, Dual DVI or Dual VGA Capable

What do these compare to? (You know, for standard D3D type stuff.)

I think the Quadro NVS 285 is close to the 6200TC (they mention the turbocache)...

But I'd love your expert knowledge! :D

Why the Dell workstation? It's the only model currently available with a Conroe processor. Who knows how long I'll have to wait for the home lineup to get moving.

Buy one with the cheapest card you can and replace it?

I always wonder what the difference was between CAD cards and gaming cards

These cards aren't designed to do gaming very well.

I see..... well, as was suggested, I could go with the cheapest one and resell it. Trade it for some RAM or something. Even the cheapest Quadro card I mentioned in the OP is worth about $150.

Trick is finding a taker.
