Pro Logic II or DD Live w/rear clone

I have some Logitech Z-5500's set up with onboard Soundstorm, I used to use the Dolby Digital Live, and just clone the front channels to the rear, and use LFE crossover at 128 so I could get some bass (this is for 2-channel stuff, any 5.1 content like movies or DualDisc gets sent SPDIF to the reciever). I tried setting it to 5.1 channel w/o DD, so I could use Pro Logic II for Music on the reciever itself, and it sounds pretty good, cause all the vocals come out of the center and I can increase the level of the center speaker from the control pod, but on some songs it makes flang effects. What do you guys think I should do?

Unless the DSP is really good I hate artificial surround. So unless it comes from Jim fosgate or Lexicon best to clone the fronts.
