Pro-Life demonstrators on my street

There were a whole bunch of high school/college age kids outside waving signs that said "vote pro-life" and "Jesus saves." Thankfully the demonstration was peaceful.

I think they were trying to get people to vote for Bush (the majority of local leaders in Philadelphia are liberals, and Sen. Arlen Spector, the Republican incumbent, is pro-choice).

I wanted to ask those kids if it was consistent to vote for Bush and be pro-life. After all, President Bush sent this country into preemptive war with Iraq, which has killed thousands of Iraqi civilians, many of them children.

Is the message that killing in our own backyard is not ok, but we don't care who we kill abroad?

No. Everyone has a right to peaceful free expression. And personally I find abortion distasteful. Maybe people will see the signs and think twice about having one, or support comprehensive sex ed in schools so that unplanned pregnancies are reduced.

I'm pro-choice, but I think abortion should be the absolute last resort. I don't think abortion is wrong in cases of rape or serious health problems either.

Many people voting for Bush are doing it for a sense of security ( he WILL kill the "evil doers" we know that now) and I wouldn't be at all surprised if they didn't really think about all the dead Iraqies. We just want to be safe at home with our big wallets, big meals and big fat heads. :brokenheart:
