I've never played a Winning Eleven game, nor have I played the previous 360 release of this series, I've only ever played the Fifa titles from EA. I guess my biggest question is in relation to licensing... does PES have any legit teams in there like Arsenal, Milan or Barcelona, or is it just generic players and teams?

I'm not big into watching soccer, but I played for like 9 years when I was a kid, and have always enjoyed a fun soccer game.

IMO, the Konami Soccer franchise has always been better than FIFA. The controls have always been better designed with more focus on passes, give-and-goes, through-pass etc. I haven't played 2008 but I plan to get it.

I'd like it if they gave me the option to rename teams to their real names instead of this "North London" crap. ;) PES 2008 is actually only $50, which is cool.

I'm not sure if the new one has an editor or not. The one that came out for the Original Xbox like 3 years ago had a full editor. I downloaded a save file that edited all the teams and the players, including uniforms (kits) and logos. It was sweet, but I heard Konami doesn't include extensive modding anymore.

Anyone know for sure?

I was reading the Wii review for this game this morning, and it looks to be pretty good. I'm interested.

You should be able to get FIFA '08 used for a decent price. I think I paid about $35 on half.com for it and it is so far the best one I've played. I had one of the PES games for the original xbox (2005 or 2006 version) and enjoyed it, but the atmosphere just isn't the same. Gameplay was solid, but the new FIFA plays a great game of soccer and has some unique gameplay modes, including the surprisingly fun "Be A Pro" mode where you play games from the perspective of a single player.
