this oil company should be be like a billboard company and pay rent to the landowners.

Corporatist right is not really against eminent domain if it benefits their friends like the Koch brothers.

You guys let Bush and the Republicans change Eminent Domain.

It could be changed back to the way it was through Congress.

Stop voting Republican or continue to expect this kind of shit to happen.

pft.

it was not a Repub thing or a Democrat thing. BOTH sides of the isle don't give a shit as long as it fills the re-election bankroll.

the sooner some of you realize that the better off the country will be. People need to start caring what happens to the nation and not the party.

FALSE - The Supreme Court's decision in Kelo v. City of New London, 545 U.S. 469 (2005) affirmed the authority of New London, Connecticut, to take non-blighted private property by eminent domain, and then transfer it for a dollar a year to a private developer solely for the purpose of increasing municipal revenues.

President George W. Bush actually issued an Executive Order stating it must be for the purpose of benefiting the general public. Still wasn't enough but it wasn't his doing, but thanks again for putting out yet even more mis-information about the Republicans and Bush.

Everyone is acting like this is the first ever pipeline running through the US.

The U.S. also has an estimated 30,000 to 40,000 miles of small gathering lines (usually 2 to 6 inches in diameter) located primarily in Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Wyoming with small systems in a number of other oil producing states. These small lines gather the oil from many wells, both onshore and offshore, and connect to larger trunk lines measuring from 8 to 24 inches in diameter.

Keystone would be just one more pipeline running through the US but Obama just wants to play politics with it.

Don't be so blind, the Republicans tried to play politics on it and lost. It was extremely likely to be approved after the election when State had finished its analysis of the route and when Obama didn't have to worry as much about environmentalists. Instead, by forcing a decision now, they get nothing.

Yes Obama denied it for political reasons, but the Republicans knew he would. They preferred to have an election issue over the pipeline.

The first running from Canada to the Texas Gulf Coast specifically for oversea's export.

You just wasted a bunch of typing.

The bottom line is it happened under his watch with Justices he picked.

The blame lies squarely on you and your Republican heroes and Bush.

Ginsburg and Breyer were nominated by Republicans? Didn't know Clinton was a Republican. Learn something new every day.

Kelo was a 5-4 decision with Stevens, Kennedy, Souter, Ginsburg, and Breyer as the majority opinion. This is one of those times that I entirely agree with the more conservative justices who voted against the decision.
