Like a flashing bar across the screen. The existing one is too tiny.

I disagree. A flashing bar across would be plain annoying.

I run my desktop at 1600x1200 and I have no problems noticing when I have new PM's.

Nah cause then we would have to rename FuseTalk to CheeseTalk .

And you can't do that because my company is called cheesetalk. So the PM icon stays
