I think $260/mo with dental is a good price (assuming standard benefits).

As for the COBRA discussion, the main advantage is to ensure continuous health coverage. The down-side is that the insured has to be pay the full cost of the coverage--no subsidizing by the ex-employer, IIRC.

I had fortis about 1.5-2 years ago when i was unemployed. I had it to only cover big emergencies and it was only 700 for 6 months.

Tonik Health Insurance from Blue Cross is really popular for young people in their 20's.. it does have a few downsides. PM me if you have any questions about health insurance.
