Private file recovery?

Hi! I recently reinstalled windows xp on my system and i had previously kept my files private. after reinstallation i wasn't able to access my file in the documents and settings folder. it says access denied. has anyone had this problem? any help is appreciated.

Get ownership of the files and try again.

EDIT: Unless you mean you encrypted them, then you're SOL.

no i didn't encrypt it it asked me if i want to make the files in my folder private when i put a password on the account and i chose yes
