Looking to trade my prius c in. I'm in need of something with a little more space, good gas mileage, and a nice comfortable interior. Currently I've narrowed down to Toyota cars because I have a friend who runs a lexus repair shop. And I have a cousin that works for a lexus dealership. I'll consider others if they are overwhelmingly better.

CT200H is nice but I would call the interior cozy. There's only rear seat room for midgets or kids. I would have no issue with it (given I have a CR-Z) but don't expect it to seat 4. I would wager it is smaller inside than your C (but I have never been in a C).

Camry will have best "people" space at cost of a smaller trunk. Prius will have more flexibility in cargo space due to hatch and seats. Camry is also quicker and more traditional driving car at the expense of poorer economy than a Prius or the CT.

I don't think any hybrid out there that can beat the 2014 Honda Accord Hybrid. In term of EVERYTHING.

Cost. You can get a prius for $22k. That Accord is upwards of $30k.

Accord Hybrid FTW

You should go test drive all the different hybrid midsize sedans and see which one you like.. Sonata/Fusion/Accord/Camry,etc. All these will prob offer better comfort/space although it won't get Prius' MPG. Trade-off's prob worth it though.

Yeah, there is absolutely no way you're fitting a rear-facing kid seat a CT unless either you or your wife is sub 5'.

I have read otherwise on lexus forums. I will have to check this out for myself. Good to know though. I'm trending towards the CT at the moment because i'm willing to spend a little more and not have an econobox interior or looks.

Don't get me wrong, the Prius C served it's purpose and it served it well as a commuter car. But atm, I don't have a nice car to take to fancy places. So it needs to serve multiple roles as a #1 a comfortable commuter car, #2 a nice car for the weekends, and lastly emergency family hauler just in case the SUV is being used by me or the wife.

That's why i'm leaning towards the CT. I still have some time because my cousin said to wait until the december to remember event at lexus. But if it can't fit the car seats and stroller, I will have to rule it out

This is of course my educated opinion after being in my co-worker's CT and seeing how tight a squeeze the kid seats are in an older WRX. Definitely see if you can bring a seat with you to try out at the dealer. Maybe my estimation skills are totally off....

Yeah I was debating between the CT and the Prius as well. I'm 5'7" and the back seat of the CT was insanely low. Even for short trips it would feel odd. The interior leather was nice on it though. We ended up getting the Prius so there is an obvious downgrade in interior materials but everything else driving-wise felt very similar. I sat in the Prius c before and it felt super cheap, like my old Honda Fit. My sister has a fam with 2 kids and she ended up getting a Highlander Hybrid. Quite expensive new though, but it has the space...

May want to look at a CMAX Energi - Interior with leather and touch screen is quite nice. Heated seats too.

HOV lane access in California -
Trunk is downsized due to the battery pack - but the interior is quite roomy with a big backseat.

I don't consider a CT200h much of an upgrade. You take a 20% MPG hit and it's still a small hatchback. Go for the Camry Hybrid or ES300h.

To each his own. The CT has much better styling and a really nice interior. It has more HP too so isn't quite as slow.

I totally forgot about the Avalon Hybrid. It's 40/40MPG and cavernous inside. Starts around $35k well optioned.

My wife has a Lexus IS250 and I own a 2012 Camry Hybrid XLE. We take the Camry everywhere and never go anywhere as a family in her car. It is just too small. My son is 11 years old so he fits in her car fine but the Camry is more comfortable to drive and the back seats are so much more roomy. I'm 5'11" and I could sit behind someone that tall in the Camry, I'd be squished sitting behind someone that tall in the IS250. I think the CT is about the same size as the IS.

My only complaint about the Camry is that the rear seats don't fold down. The trunk itself is fairly good sized but smaller than the cavernous ICE Camry. I've never felt that it was too small though and my previous car was a Maxima.

Averaging 39mpg in mixed driving. I have almost 15,000 miles on mine already.

The Avalon hybrid is another excellent choice as is the Lexus ES hybrid but both of these are $40k.

? The CT has the exact same engine as the prius. maybe it is tuned differently, but the HP ratings are the same.

Prius or Prius V will suffice, get a used one so you're not burnt on depreciation. You COULD get a car seat and a mock baby (Bag of flour) and just test out the situation with your current car. Then try it in different vehicle and see how it goes.

 Getting a baby seat in and out is a huge consideration. I owned a Toyota Tundra Access Cab when my son was born. It went bye bye shortly thereafter in trade for a brand new Nissan Maxima. Main reason? Getting baby in and out of the back was a bitch and those suicide doors didn't help especially when someone parked close to you in a parking lot.

I doubt you'd have any problem with the Prius in this regard though.
