Prius battery pack modification by edrive

I was just reading a bit about the lithium battery pack modification by edrive.

Anyone know much about it? Is it available yet to you los angelinos? I saw a brief mention of it in the locked gas thread, but that's about it.

That looks like a commercialization of a Prius mod that engineer-tinkerer types have been making since the Prius came out. Basically, the mod involves three steps:

1. Adding extra electrical storage, ie, more or better batteries.
2. Adding a plug-in charger.
3. (In the USA) Re-enabling the electric-only "stealth" mode which disables the gasoline engine at speeds under 30 MPH.

It's cool and I'd do it if I had the money (and a Prius).

I'd also modify the fuel system to run on E-85.
