Buying an economy car with a hopped up engine is ridiculous. You don't get much better gas mileage than a real sports car yet you still have FWD.

Amazing..

Good luck getting that price for a car.

At least a golf looks better than the prius

Yes; however, until diesel gets cleaned up in North America (2007?), you can't buy them (new, anyway) in California-emissions states, AFAIK.

Thats what I would like to get.

Diesel 4tw.

If SHTF or there is some emergency where gasoline is in short supply or out I'd just go hit up the grocery stores for vegetable oil.

people like supporting a company thats doing something they feel is right. nothing wrong with that. encourage more development price reductions through advances/econmies of scale etc etc. and yea its high demand vehicle. if you believe pollution is dangerous or using gas is not sogood then a prius works pretty well. tdi's are diesel, they have their own problems.

A VW Jetta TDI diesel can get 50 highway miles per gallon.

Just a few months ago, I was at my High School reunion and one of my Alumnus had one with the MB label. He managed to drive it from Canada through the mountains of West Viriginia all the way to Florida with out problems. The car is about the size of a Geo Metro but much better made.

they sell them in canada?

anyways it wouldn't sell here, look at prius sales vs the honda insight..which was tiny like a smart. the prius has the interior room of a camry, one reason its so popular. and now the camry has a hybrid that is even more practical. road and track had a test on it, it out accelerates all the other hybrids and has higher top speeds while still being able to hit 40mpg heh. hybrid with almost v6 power:p

Speaking of Insight, Honda announced yesterday that they were no longer going to sell them here in the USA.

I'll have to ask my father if the same is happening here in Australia! I don't think he'd sell it though given he loves his biggest gadget ever. :)
