Prior to buying my first TFT monitor

The main candidate for this decision is the Sony X73 monitor-and the main readons are space, design and my inadequate Philips 17"CRT monitor. Tried to read far enough about TFTs but I think it's a quite critical part so I come to ask my favourite forum:

- Is the 16ms response time fast enough for gaming and DVD viewing?
- What are other significant specs I should check before transfering my usual pc activities on a TFT monitor??
- What is the max time that it should bring up any burned pixels problem? 1,2 how many days of function in average?
- Is there any other proposal by somebody who can suggest one?

Thanx in advance...

Response time is tricky...each maker has it's own way of measuring this, thus the specs are often not comparable. As for bad pixels, I think they would be immediately apparent, but I'm not sure.

some LCDs produce a high pitched sound. the primary reason i'm trying to sell my BenQ FP737s due to the tedius high frequency sounds it makes. it's nothing significant but it's something to keep in mind.

Ok let me put it the other way round then....

What are the most critical specs I should check in order to maintain my gaming -and DVD viewing-unaffected (if possible) by the TFT monitor??

gaming affected by response time (16ms the minimum, 12 would be best). DVD unaffected by response time. (they all do this just fine)
