Printing Self-Made PDF pictures has DOTS!

Ok, I made a document using Adobe Indesign, then I exported it as PDF, when I print out this PDF, any kinds of pictures I put into the documents comes out with uniform dots on the picture. For some reason, I don't see these dots IN the PDF itself. Any clue why it does this?

Is your printer halftoning the images?

i've seen it before, especially when it was a pdf created by printing a word document that contained an embedded visio diagram. never figured out why it was happening.
