I have an HP DeskJet 672C printer here that doesn't print any color and has blank streaks in the black print. I ran the Clean Print Head utility several times, but it didn't help. Do I need to clean the ink nozzles? I don't know how to do that. Thanks for any info you can give me.

A couple of questions:

- Have you tried using different ink cartridges?
- Is the printer driver up to date?
- When you remove the ink cartridges does print head area have ink left overs?

No. That's my last resort if nothing else works.

Yes. I'm using the newest version of the Windows 98 drivers for this printer. Version 11.0

Looks like it. I did what the help says about cleaning the printer. I used alcohol and cotton swabs to clean the print head area as well as other areas it said to clean. There was some ink on the print area, but the cleaning didn't help.

I had the same printer with the same problem. It started happening when it was about 2 1/2 years old. I cleaned it with a cotton swab and got a new black ink cartridge, but it still did the same thing. I gave up and bought an 842c. It was cheaper than investing in the repair of the 672c, and the print speed and quality was much better. There is some verbage on HP's site in regard to black ink streaks with the 672c which leads me to suspect they are well aware that it's a problem. Their trouble shooting methods don't work though.
