I'm trying to print 3 x 5 cards from MS Word in Windows XP on a HP LaserJet 5L. What I'm getting is only a small corner of what prints on the card.

I have set the paper size to 3" by 5" in Word but the printer settings in Windows can't be set to that size or any custom size. If I print the card to a regular piece of paper I can see what's happening: the 3x5 card is printed in the top left corner of the 8.5x11 paper. It should be printed in the center (the LJ 5L manual feeder is in the center).

Is there any way I can tell Word/Windows how to print this thing out right? I know it prints envelopes out correctly so there should be a way.

You could try going to File , Page Setup and manually set the margins for a standard size sheet(8.5 x 11). The margins will tell the printer where to print. You may want to make a note of the default margins, so that you can change them back later. You can see the results with Print Preview until you get close to the desired results, and then print a few and fine tune the rest from there.
