Printing on Thick Stock

I work in R&D at a social printing company. We produce things like high-end custom wedding invitations, birth announcements, and ritzy party invitations.

One of the most annoying features in sending out invitations is addressing all the envelopes. We want to be able to take a customer's guest list and print their envelopes for them.

Obviously, we can't use our printing presses for this, because we would need to set up the press for each and every address!

We have plenty of laser printers, but a lot of our envelopes are really quite thick, up to 25/1000", and remarkably stiff. The HP5000 always creases the envelope and jams 90% of the time. A fast low-curve ink-jet or hi-res stamping solution may work.

Can anyone suggest a reasonably fast printing solution for these thick and irregularly-sized envelopes? (From 3.625 x 5.125 to 5 x 10.125 to 8.5 x 8.5) Color preferable; hi-res a must.

Thanks!
