I have a wired home network consisting of 3 computrs running Windows 7 x64 Home Premium SP1 and 2 computers running 32 bit Windows XP SP3. I also have 2 HP printers, a HP LasertJet 1012 and HP OfficeJet 7210. Both printers are attached to the Win 7 computers and work fine. But now I'm trying to load printer drivers for Windows XP so the XP computers can use the printers. I go into Printer Properties. Then I go to the Sharing tab and click on the Additional Drivers button. Then the HP LaserJet 1012 Properties box pops up and lists drivers for Itanium, x86 and x64. The Itanuim and x86 drivers are show as not installed. I click on the x86 checkmark to install the Windows XP print driver and hit OK. When the x86 box pops up I browse to the to the flash drive where I've stored the uncompressed Windows XP driver for the HP 1012. When I click on the Autorun.ini file in that directory I get the following error: "The specified location does not contain the driver hp LaserJet 1012 HB for the requested processor architecture." What am I doing wrong?

No, that is not a file Windows is looking for. it is looking for .INF file of the driver - look in subfolders.

I made a typo. Sorry. It should have been Autorun.inf.
either way, that is not file it is looking for. autorun.inf contains information how to autorun CD, such as executable to run & icon to use for CD in windows explorer.
