Well I have started backing up my old VHS-C home movies and saw some places that sell DVD media that can be printed to. Do you need a special printer or is it something that certain DVD burners can do?

Thanks

I know labels can mess up a cd if not done perfectly because they unbalance the media and then don't smoothly work in the drive. I am not sure if the same goes for dvds but to be safe, I use a sharpie too.

Do you guys use plastic cases or the paper sleeves?

I was thinking about the lable thing as well... I have never had a bad CD due to a lable. The lable kit I have pretty much centers it and smooths it out. I guess I could just use the sharpie and put them in CD cases so it would be easier to find what I am looking for.

If I'm not mistaken that printable DVD/CD media is for use with a printer that can print to the tops of the CD. Like the inkjet DVD/CDs.

My roommate has an espon printer that can do this. The media is more expensive but well worth it if you dont like your the DVDs in your DVD collection to have hand written labels with a sharpie. Makes your DVD movie back-ups looks almost like the original.

You can order jewel cases, inserts and the printable media at www.cdrom2go.com, however there could be better places to get it.
