I have an Epson Color Stylus 500. I just installed a new black ink cartridge. The printer shows that there is ink in the machine. However, whenever I try to print, the head will move side to side and make the noise that it is printing. However, no ink will come out on the page. What is the problem and what can i do to fix it? Thanks.

Just a shot in the dark here. Take the cart out of the printer and make sure the nozzle is free of any obstructions. Dirt, lint, *cough* *cough* factory sealed *cough*. Use a damp (with warm water)lint free cloth and remove any guff on there. If that doesn't work, I would take the cartridge back for a replacement. ;)

SeraphV made some good suggestions.. it may have clogged jets on the head. You may need to clean it. Also it has been a known boo boo to leave the seal on the new cartridge preventing the "juices" from flowing..and make sure the cartridge is fully seated
