I know absolutely nothing about printers but in the market to get a new one for my parents for the holidays. They do a lot of basic printing, mainly stuff from word. I'd like it to be an all around good printer, but I'd also like to get a good value.

I'm not sure of printer prices, but under a $100 would be nice
 
Big question: do they need color?

If not, a Samsung laser printer is well under $100 (usually after rebate) -- I think GottaDeal.com had a deal link for one yesterday, it should either be on the main page or in the older deals section.

Lasers are cheaper per page to print, have excellent text quality, and best of all the toner cartridges don't dry out.

If they need color or a photo printer, let us know and someone else can suggest one.
