printer sharing, public network

The scenario is as follows... you have laserjet with built in jetdirect, on a network that has a public IP. All the systems on the department are also on public IP's.

What would the best way to secure that laserjet? Without the answer of "stick your network on a private subnet," heh.

there is an access control list, but only limits to 10. We can do a whole range of IP's, but that isn't exactly ideal.

Any suggestions? Thanks

we have this same problem at the school where I work. We just ignore the problem because it's just a printer--assuming that the hacker couldn't do anything much with a print server. I heard that in other schools, they put all their printers on a private subnet.
