I just installed a Canon i350 printer on my computer, and I want to share it with my dad's computer on our home LAN. On my computer, the local printer is shared. On his computer, my shared printer has been added to his Printers folder. The problem is that every time his machine reboots, the "connection" to my computer is lost and he can nolonger print, forcing him to re-login by going to Network>Computers Near Me, clicking on the name of my computer, and then logging in as Administrator with the password. Once he's logged into my machine, he can then print again.

I've gone into the Security tab of my Canon's properties. "Everyone" is one of the users listed as having permission to print, so I don't understand why he has to log-in every time he wants to print.

Help!

How can I configure my machine such that when I go to Network>Computers Near Me>[My Machine Name] on my dad's computer that it does NOT prompt for a username and password?

Create an account on the machine with the printer with the same name and password as is used to logon to the other machine. You will have shared access without any password prompts.

So...

Computer A has the printer. Computer B has user "Administrator" and password "foo". Create a new account on Computer A with user "Administrator" and password "foo" (Start>Settings>Control Pannel>Users and Passwords).

That it?

Well, there will already be an administrator account on it, since it is Win2k and every Win2k box has a local administrator account, so you'll just need to sync the password to "foo".
