Printer Sharing Fails When Simple File Sharing is Disabled

With Simple File Sharing on, it shares fine.

With it off I get the error message "You do not have access to this printer. Only the security tab will be displayed." if i try to access the properties.

Delete and re add the printer (asks for a password) and it works again till reboot.

It's gotta be a permission thing, but the printer is set to allow everyone.

Any Ideas?

Simple file sharing is the spawn of the devil, browse to the other computer(\\$ComputerName) in any explorer window, login and save the password.

I guess I'll want to create a restricted account to use for this? If I used somthing with regular privilages then anyone on that PC could also browse my other admin shares like c$.

Only administrators have access to admin shares; a user, or poweruser wouldnt have access.

Make sure to remove the option for the "User must change password at next logon"(or you cant login unless you login locally once, and thats just a waste of disk space),
I also enable "password never expires" as well
I recommmend using the advanced user managment tool by running control userpasswords2, going to the advanced tab, and selecting Advanced, then users.

Then under the group policy(using gpedit.msc) Computer Configuration, Windows Settings, Local Policies, User Rights assignments, "Deny logon locally" Add the user you created.

Edited for clarity
