Printer recommendations: personal laser and MF

Greetings.

So, the missus has endured yet another HP multifunction printer failure in the paper loader. HP paper loaders seem to be pretty lame. Anyway, we are needing a replacement for the recently-deceased J6480, and I'm thinking it might be better to go with two replacements, a personal laser printer and then a separate multifunction inkjet device as well.

Both printers should be networkable and ideally one of them would be wireless-capable with full functionality (preferably the laser). Volume is about 100 pages per week, mostly text. The multifunction device really only needs scanning and copying capabilities, but also color for the rare color print. The laser printer can be solely b/w, and hopefully with relatively inexpensive and widely available toner cartridges.

Suggestions? Any thoughts appreciated.

//edit: Total budget preferably under $400, max $500

so it turns out that the wife doesn't give a **** about color and neither do I, so a single monochrome multifunction device would probably be good enough.

Just browsing newegg I stumbled across this brother MFC-7840W. Thoughts on that or a similar alternative?

Well, I scored a used brother 7820N for $60.00, that plus a non chipped Canon inkjet I refill on my network gives me the best of all worlds.

Believe it or not, I can print Canon color cheaper than the brother can do monochrome, but for banging out 50 quick copies, its a laser by a wide margin.
And because I live in a rural area, every time I fax with the brother saves me five to seven bucks in gas in a trip to town.

And the 7840W is also a good multifunctional laser. And so are many other similar multifunctional lasers from other brand offerings.

Did I forget to mention the fact that I am a cheapskate, its paid off for me.
