Printer Recommendation needed

Hello all,

Looking for a good printer under 150$ which will mainly be used for bw printing. Maybe some color and photo printing. Not sure if I need an all-in-one printer, but copier would be nice to have. Id like to have scanning capability though...

I hope requirements are not too vague... 🙁 Im kinda confused on what to buy cause i cant anticipate what i will need later.

thank!

Yep, good recommendation.

My 1012 is awesome. Ive heard good things about the Samsung 1740 too, and the Brother.

Canon Pixma series inkjet printer. The iP4000 (sweet spot in the line, IMO) is around $80. AR (normally around $150.) at CompUSA (and probably others) this week. Excellent replacement ink tanks are available from Swiftink.com et al. at less than half the cost of OEM. The Pixmas have the lowest TCO in the biz. Don't forget to buy a USB 2 compliant cable as most printers don't include one - good 10 footers can be had for $2.00, so don't overpay for one.
. I wouldn't get an All-In-One for the usual reasons. Get a separate scanner - Epsons are almost always at the top of the reviewer's lists and some Canon's are good too. Get them cheap off eBay or at the Epson clearance center on their web site (refurbs and clearance models at good prices and usually with free ground shipping). Most scanners DO come with a short USB cable - get another 10 footer if you plan to locate your scanner at some distance from your PC.

You have a link to that. I see it for $197.54 on the office depot site.

I don't see why he can't start a new thread, sure it's a common topic, new printers and new marketing schemes from manufacturers change constantly. I work in the imaging industry as a laser printer/cartridge tech and I can barely keep up with the changing technologies.

. If he doesn't find what he needs in existing threads, then sure, go ahead and start a new thread. Buit what is going to change in a few days? Anyone that isn't dumber than a stump checks the Hot Deals forum here as well as the usual suspect sites before making any significant purchase. So exactly what is he going to miss?
. There have been a number of threads on both inexpensive laser printers and inkjet printers in the last week... The recommendations haven't really changed in months - and the bang for buck recommendations won't change for several months more even though new models from most companies will start being introduced late this month and into Sept. I doubt there will be super deals on the new models until October or so - at least that was the case last year. I got my iP3000 toward the end of October last year at under $70. (was normally around $100. and sometimes you can grab one for under $50 now - OD had the iP4000 at the B&Ms for under $50.AR a couple of weeks ago).
