Im about to buy a low-end printer. Something for around $100AUD.
Ive narrowed it down to the following:
Lexmark Z12
Canon BJC 1000
Epson C20UX

These are all around the same price.
The HP ones are out already as ive had bad experiences with them in the past.

All i need it for is to print out black and white text. I would hardly ever, if at all, use colour.

What do you guys recommend?
What features should I look for in a low-end printer?

Any help/ideas would be much appreciated.

Lexmark cartridges are the most expensive. I would either get the Canon or the Epson. The Epson is new printer so it will be awhile before it will be easy to find the cartridges whereas the Canon uses the BC-02 (black) which is very common. The Epson though will do better quality printing in color than the Canon IMO.

Thanks h0vic, cartridge price and availability is definately a big part of buying a printer, especially if its only going to be a cheapy.
I think ill go for the Canon, but I have one more question.
I can get the BJC 1000 for about $105AUD, or I could spend a little more and get the BJC 2100 for about $135AUD.
Is it worth me spending that little extra for a better model?
Speed doesn't really matter to me, but reliability does more than anything, will the 2100 be more reliable than the 1000?

Hey Axloz....................

If money is at all a consideration, you really should consider refilling your cartridges. It is very inexpensive. In most cases the real cost of printing is not the printer but the cartridges.

I have an HP812c and Canon BJC6000 for almost 2 years. Since I refill my cartridges, I can now afford to print as much as I like. As an example, the kit for my HP cost $50.00 USD. That includes enough ink for about 5 refills of Color & Blk. The kit included everything needed. My Canon kit is less than $40.USD.
I could never have afforded to purchase new cartridges for all that printing.
