I am having a little trouble with my HP Office Jet 5100 All-in-One printer. It won't print blue only yellow and red. I have tried changing the ink cartridges and cleaning the nozzles and contacts automatically and manually. I figured I would ask here befor i gave HP a call.

Well it's not clogged jets. All HP printers have the ink jets on the cartridge, so replacing the cartridge replaces the inkjets. Since you've replaced the cartridge, it can't be clogged jets.

It could be dirty cartridge socket contacts. I see it all the time. I have no idea how you cleaned them but the ONLY way I would recommend cleaning them is with a clean (brand new - never used) pencil eraser. LIGHTLY rub it across all the contacts.

You can try re-installing the drivers but I doubt that's it. HP tech support will make you do that anyway so you might as well try it.

Failing that, you probably have a bad printer.

Hope this helps...

The strange thing is the printer worked before. It worked that morning in fact. I cleaned the contacts wiath a Q-tip and distilled water per the instructions in the HP troubleshooter. The cartridge that was in their printed fine, then stopped working. It and another seperate cartridge now both do not work.

Have you tried doing a 'Restore Factory Defaults'?

Press 'SETUP' until "5:Maintenance" appears, then ENTER
Press the right-arrow until "3:Restore Factory Defaults" appears, then ENTER

It is similair to Resetting the Bios on a PC.
It will wipeout and settings (Time, Date, Speed-Dial numbers, etc..).

If it still does not print correctly after Reset, unplug the Power Cord.
Simultanously press and hold the 6 & # keys and plug the Power Cord in.
It should beep 3 times. Release keys.

Worse HP product ever made (next to the 5L-6L) IMHO :)
