Printer problems (?XP related)

Hi all ! Wasn't sure if this should go to the O.S forums ....but anyway .....ever since buying a new PC with WIN XP(home edition) my printer (a Lexmark Z53 bought in 2001) misbehaves .
If I want to print something it goes to the systray and stays until i reboot!! ..then it happily prints!

B4 i reboot the priority says 1 ...and even if i increase it to 99 ....it only prints when i reboot!
However once i reboot i can print as much as i want until i shutdown again.

I've tried updating the driver with no luck ....nothing works
I previously used Win ME with the same printer and it never did this.
It's pretty frusutrating and too time consuming to reboot when i want to print.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Is your printer attached to the parallel port of your computer? Have you tried connecting it through USB? From what I understand, WinXP has problems with devices connected through a parallel port. Good luck.

thanks you
I have been using the USB port (and i tried the parallel port as well) ...no change in what happens.
I also tried that driver some time ago ...I think it caused some other problem but i can't remeber what ?
I'm gonna try it again though

Thanks again

Will post back to see how it goes
