Salutations Anandtech Technical Support community!
You guys have always been great about helping me with tech problems, so I come to you again with the latest problem a friend is having.
He has a Canon BJC-210 printer connected to his D-link DI-704P router with print server. Everything is peachy (for a few months IIRC) in his Win98 system until one day he can no longer print. I go to add the printer again and discover that the custom 'Dlink port' is missing from the Add Printer
Wizard choices. I download the print server setup file from Dlink's site and install it, reboot, then add the printer using the Dlink port. Everything is peachy again for about 2 weeks until the same thing happened again today, and the same process fixed it again. Does anyone have any idea what's
happening? It seems to me that somehow the software that tells Windows about the custom Dlink port is magically removing itself. Each time it happens, his Canon printer disappears from his Printers folder and he is unable to print from his computer. Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated as always. Thanks guys
!
